Your Locals Online Centre is jointly provided by the following organisations:

. The Countryside Agency

. Adult &Community Learning Fund, through Lancashire County Council (LCC)

. LocalsOnline (a not-for-profit body set up by the British Beer &Pub Association)

As a result, it is backed by the full range of LCC education and learning resources.

Aim:

The aim of the Centre is to promote the use of the Internet as a valuable tool with which to carry out a variety of personal and business activities by providing a range of computer- and Internet-related facilities primarily to local residents and businesses, but also to the wider community of visitors to the area and people living outside of Blacko. The Centre has dedicated local facilitators on hand to help users learn how to get the most out of what computers and the Internet can offer, and training courses leading to recognised qualifications can be arranged where suitable.

Features Include:

. FREE Internet access over a fast connection with LCC safety controls (suitable for people of all ages)

. Facilitator-supported learning sessions

. Software includes: MicrosoftTMOfficeTM, web page design, CD burning

. Printer, fax, scanner, photocopier facilities

. Digital camera (off-site loan service)

It is hoped your Locals Online Centre will be a long-term fixture in bringing the benefits of online computing to the rural community, and the success and continued provision of the facility is dependent on its use, so please take this opportunity to come along and see what's on offer, and how you may benefit. Thank you!
