Autumn in Strathspey

Hiking, Walking and Hillwalking
Walkers have a wide choice. There are field, river, moor, wood, forest, hill or mountain walks available in the surrounding area. You can take a circular walk around the hotel, taking in woods, fields and rivers, all the time with changing views of the hills, which would take an hour. A whole day walk could take you through the Lairig Ghru, a gigantic cleft in the Cairngorms, or to one or more of the Munro tops. Scottish law allows almost 100% freedom to walk
anywhere. In winter and spring the hills are particularly beautiful.
Fishing
Fishing for salmon on Private Beats on the Spey, Avon or Findhorn can usually be arranged, but a cheaper option for those staying at Auchendean is fishing either on the Public Beats on the Spey, or catching trout one of the many nearby Lochs. Tuition and equipment hire is also available locally
Skiing
Skiers can watch (through binoculars!) others
on the slopes from the hotel. It's just 35 minutes
to the Cairngorm Ski-fields - Scotland's most
comprehensive downhill ski facilities, or The Lecht skifields are just 30 minutes away
Cross Country Skiers
can take off from the
hotel when the conditions are right.

The Owners are keen walkers and skiers and will happily help plan your route.
