Ohio Models 28% Ultimate 10 -300 S

The above photo was taken by friend colleague and fellow member of the Rhyl & District Model Flying Club John Bowman, some 4 years ago when the Model was new.

The model is I'm glad to say still going strong, it was an excellent kit to build, it is equipped with a Zenoah 45 petrol engine and a home brewed smoke system which is powered by crankcase pressure. The actual silencer is a B.C.M. silencer supplied by Just Engines.

The model is a very agile aerobat, and a definate show stopper particularly with the smoke on, ( see photo).

I have since built two large scale aerobatic monoplanes and find them far more precise for competition flying i.e. I.M.A.C.,although the Ultimate probably still wins for excitement and chuckability.

( The photo to the right with the Ultimate in flight, smoke on, was taken by Gary Jones yet another member of Rhyl & District Model Flying Club.)

The colour scheme is courtesy of Martini. ( Any time any Place Anywhere), and precedes Colin Mc Crae's Ford Focus by some 4 yrs. I wrote to Martini and they supplied me with a large envelope chock full of their decals in all shapes and sizes, and a free "T" shirt to boot not bad hey.

I chose the music file thats with this page ( Pinball Wizard ) as its on a favorite website of mine known as The Muscle Biplane Page, which as it's name suggests deals with everything to do with aerobatic bipes. I'll put a link in pay it a visit and see if you like it too.

Considering how few full size Ultimates were built it's amazing how many models of it there are about, it's probably due to the fact that it performs well no matter what scale you build your model to. I personally have had a Goldberg one as well as the Ohio one featured here and can vouch that they both fly superbly. The full sized aircraft was produced by a company called Ultimate Aerobatics of Canada, now no longer trading unfortunately.

The above photo shows a full sized Ultimate 200 built and owned by Daryl Grounds of the USA, the 200 differs from the 300 that most models are based on in that it has a smaller engine and dos'nt have the pinched wing tips of the 300.

Yours truly with the Ultimate shortly after it's completion.
