This is my latest aerobatic buy build and fly project, and I've been flying it for some fifteen months. It is without doubt the best model aerobat that I have flown todate. The Giles is powered by a 3W 100cc twin turning a Menz 28x12 prop, I originally had a few problems with the motor but since these were sorted, it has proved an ideal combination with the model.

The Giles is kitted by A.H. Designs who reside just a few miles along the north wales coast from me in the village of Llanddulas, so I'm able to maintain close contact with designer Alan Hawes who has several other kits available and of course his range of varying scales and types of pilot figures

The Giles weighs in at 24 lbs and all horizontal flight surfaces are removable for easy transport, no van needed for transporting this one. It really is a super model and will be a hard act to follow.

The Giles pictured on the Akrotech link above is the recently released Giles 300 single seater which has a six cylinder Lycoming engine, whereas my model pictured at the top of the page is based on the older single seat G200, which was powered by a slightly less powerful four cylinder Lycoming engine. There is also a two seat version of the 200 which is known as the Giles 202, and just to confuse matters this is now produced in Europe as a CAP 222, a picture of one of these can be seen at the top of my home page painted in securicor colours. I took the photo at a round of the British aerobatic championships at Welshpool this year (1999).

Pay the Akrotech Website a visit and you can check on the spec of all three variants, its well worth a visit, theres a link above or on my home page links section.

Check the TOC link above it will take you to Desert Aircrafts web page where there are reports on the TOC and loads of other goodies.

The photo above shows a Giles 2 seat G202

The above torque rolling link will take you to the website of Breitling a company long associated with aerobatics take a look I'm sure you'll like it.

Follow the above link to bolly products, an Australian based company, a site which not only lists their products but is also an invaluable source of information on prop design and selection for all types and sizes of model aviation projects. There is also much information on exhaust systems and tuned pipes in particular

Above is a photo of the 3W 100cc twin cylinder petrol engine thats in my Giles G200 it's of German origin there's a link to 3W's website on the photo, the engines claimed output is 9.3bhp.
