My interest in this name arises through AGNES COLE (1760/1851) who was married at Witheridge, Devon in 1780 to JOHN BURGESS. AGNES was the daughter of WILLIAM COLE (1719/1778) of Witheridge who married MARY GREENSLADE in 1749 and the grandaughter of a JOHN and MARY ( at Witheridge from about 1717. Place of origin not known ).
