ELBORNE

ELBORNE was the family surname of my paternal grandmother. This was a difficult family to research since the name changed.

I have traced the family back to Ruislip, Middlesex where GEORGE and JANE between 1748 and 1750 had three children baptised as ELMAN and five more baptised between 1753 and 1767 as ELMORE. This included their son HENRY (1750/1826), baptised as ELMAN, married as ELMORE and buried as ELBOURNE. His six children were baptised at Ruislip as ELMORE. Later Ruislip references however refer to his family as ELBORNE

His youngest son JOHN (1793/1871) moved to London and consistently used the spelling ELBORNE. His twelve children were baptised in various London parishes including Streatham, Clapham, St Mary Newington, Lambeth, Marylebone and Camberwell.

My records for this name include the entries from the Ruislip parish registers and sundry references elsewhere and census returns.
