My interest in this name first arose from SUSANNA PARTRIDGE (1690/1769) who was married at Witheridge, Devon in 1705 to ANNANIAS MOORE (1678/1738) of Morchard Bishop, Devon.
SUSANNA was the daughter of JOHN PARTRIDGE (1659/----) who was married at Witheridge in 1687 to SUSANNA UPPINGTON. JOHN was the son of RICHARD PARTRIDGE who was married in the same parish in 1658 to PRISCILLY CROOKE. The line then traces back at Witheridge to JOHN PARTRIDGE (1606/1679), to JOHN PARTRIDGE (-/1656) to JOHN PARTRIDGE (-/1594) and to LAWRENCE PARTRIDGE.
Partridge is a very common name in Devon. I have built up a large database of references to both PARTRIDGE and PALTRIDGE in all parts of Devon from the 1600s to the 1800s.
