This name is also spelt as ROLLESTONE and ROLSON. My interest arises in two respects.
Firstly, an ELIZABETH ROLSON (----/1769) married my ancestor JOHN WHITELEY of Down St Mary, Devon at Clannaborough, Devon in 1729. They first lived at Down St Mary and then moved to Morchard Bishop, Devon. I have very little information as to her origins and am seeking help.
Secondly, GRACE BROWNSTON, the widow of my ancestor JOHN BROWNSTON, was married at Morchard Bishop in 1759 to JOHN ROLLESTONE. I have no information on the origins of JOHN and am seeking help. They had a son GEORGE (1760/1839) who married TAMMY POPE in 1785 and raised a family at Morchard Bishop. Their son, GEORGE (1787/1869) married SARAH SNOW of Chittlehampton, Devon and emigrated to Euphemia Township, Lambton County, Ontario. I am in correspondence with one of their descendents in Canada who is researching the family.
