My interest in this name arises through SARAH WAY (1756/1819) who was married at Morchard Bishop, Devon in 1776 to JAMES DELVE (1755/1827).
WAY was a very common name in Morchard Bishop from the time of the earliest parish registers onwards. The same first names keep occurring so it is difficult to sort out the various family lines but I have plotted these so far as possible. However, there are gaps.
Some members of the Morchard Bishop WAY families moved to Witheridge, Devon.
One interesting Morchard Bishop WAY was JAMES (1804/----) who became a Bible Christian Minister in 1826 and left for South Australia in 1850. His son was SIR SAMUEL JAMES WAY who became Chief Justice and Lt Governor of South Australia.
I have very extensive records of WAY references for Morchard Bishop, Witheridge and the surrounding area.
