this is the start of a series which i took in november 2004 - during my last trip to new york city.

this particular shot i stumbled across by chance [like most in this series].

we had just come out of a gallery in soho called 'morrison hotel'. these guys specialised in dealing original photographic prints of musicians from the 1960's onwards mainly of classic rock'n'roll from the stone's and jimmy hendrix to thom york and the sex pistols. anyway, daubed on the well outside read:

"without music life would be unfair"

and next to this, in the window sat an original print of the recently deceased johnny cash giving the middle finger...
