What is it that strikes you first
when you visit an unknown congregation?
We would very much like to know.
One of the things that can matter
is the quality of the music
When our organist is not available
we use midi files played through a data filer and sequencer (some
times referred to either as Mirrabell, or the Beastie). This works
quite well but of course it has its own problems, for example
unlike many organists, it does not automatically respond to the
congregations ideas on tempo.
We would like to hear the experience
of others using similar systems, and so discover ways in which
we might improve the quality of our praise
Another of the problems for very
small fellowships such as ours is that of establishing self sustaining
prayer and bible study groups
Because we are a rural congregation
it is difficult to join with other groups to achieve the numbers
that would make "Alpha" or "Walk through the Bible"
courses viable, so the use of such courses to build up an initial
nucleus does not seem open to us, yet the success of any congregation
depends on the support of a praying and seeking people.
