BSC Regatta

The Regatta was well attended with 11 boats taking part and weather wise we could not have asked for better.  Results were as follows – Class 1 1st John Jones in Joker, 2nd Anne Campbell in Ajax, Elaine McKenzie in Amica.  Class 2  1st Sandy Baird in Sea Swallow, 2nd Robert Morrice in Lolita

Yachtmaster Theory course

Steve Hamilton from OYT will be running a Yachtmaster theory course in the club house over 3 weekends in the winter months – 7-8 Nov, 28-29 Nov and 16-17 January 2010, there are a few places left…..so if you want to step up to the next level please contact rmaycock@business-ard.co.uk  

Commodores Cup – Club racing

The final race took place on 26th September 2009 with four boats taking part.  The weather being good and a fair wind saw the boats get up to Portsoy spire and back in good time.  The results of the 3 races saw Chris Clarkson take the Cup in Aquamarijn, Phil Brown in Omega 2nd and Gordon Maitland in Swell One 3rd

 AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the club will take place in the clubhouse on the 22nd November at 2pm.  Please try to attend.  The club values its members and their input.

I have attached a small questionnaire at the end of this newsletter to try and gauge what members are looking for at the club, please take the time to fill it in and return it.  All replies are confidential and findings will be discussed at the AGM on a general basis 

Xmas Lunch 6th December

The Town and County club will again host our Xmas lunch.  Last year they put on an excellent spread, a great hot roast buffet and sweet.  There will be a raffle and the 50 club draw, a great chance to reminisce about this years sailing and meet new members. Tickets for the lunch will be available from Pam Peters at adrian.peters@homecall.co.uk  All club members and guests very welcome. Ticket price around £16 

Merchandise

Jane Bowie has some stock of club/ North Sea yacht race merchandise.  Navy caps £5/each, Large Navy sweatshirts £12.50/each, Neck warmers £5/each and the red sack bags £6.50/each.  Jane can be contacted on js@bowie.fsnet.co.uk 

RNLI Shop

The RNLI shop at the Macduff Lifeboat Station is open from 2 - 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday for Xmas Cards etc.   Please support your local station. 

Burns Supper/Quiz night

To keep things going over the winter we are going to host a Burns supper/Quiz night in the clubhouse.  Haggis, neeps and tatties  followed by trifle, the tickets will be £8, which includes quiz entry and a dram.  The quiz will have a Burns/nautical theme….come along and test your knowledge.  Tickets will be available from Pam Peters in due course.
