I went to a folk evening at the Cutty Wren club in Marske recently and enjoyed it very much. I felt so comfortable there I even think I could just go on my own. I thought I'd look them up on the net to see if there is any listings of future evenings or events but it seems to be out of date. Any idea when it will be updated?

Does that rascal Johnny Handle have e-mail? I met him at The Bridge in 1968. (And booked an American tour for the Ranters sometime in the 70's.) Last time I was in Britain (visiting my daughter who was attending the University of St. Andrews for a year), we tried to meet in Carlisle but somehow didn't connect. Someone just gave me his mailing address (I hope) but it would be very nice if he had e-mail. I'm starting to think about visiting again in the fall.

I am currently looking for venues for solo folk singer Tim Readman to play in the North East.
Tim is a CO.Durham born folk singer who's been living in Vancouver BC Canada for 14 yrs. He had a band for 8 years called Fear of Drinking with whom he toured canada and the usa befor recording a solo CD earlier this year which has recieved good reviews in Dirty Linen andPenguin Eggs magazines.

In September 2001 he toured England and Scotland with Vin Garbutt and did a couple of shows with Jez Lowe and Simon Haworth as well as a couple on his own.
Tim is planninig on touring here again in October and Novembe

I was looking at your list of folk clubs. The Gainford Folk Club which met at the Lord Nelson on Mondays closed about 2 years ago when there was a change of landlord. It is a club I used to go to. David Hutchison, the Hutch in the folk group Nebula ran the Club at Gainford and the Club has now moved to The George at Piercebridge. It's still on the same night, Monday but known now as "The Piercebridge Folk Club" his telephone no is 07900 691812 or 01325 315117.

We would welcome your support in promoting Music Works. We are looking to get in touch with musicians who are 50+ to invite them to take part in the Music Works Project which aims to bring musicians and community groups together. All the organisations we work with are not for profit and limited resources. Music Works is a national project within the Experience Corps which recognises that there are thousands of musicians and music groups with a wealth of talent and experience across England. We have an opportunity with the British Red Cross at Whitworth Hall Country Park Hotel Open Garden Event on 22 September 2002 who are asking for a traditional folk band to play in the afternoon. They will pay out of pocket expenses. If you can help please contact at the above address.

Any chance of an addition to banjo bill's listings?
"Bogus Callers" has been active as a dance band for quite a few years and is now actively seeking more gainful employment. Based in south-east Northumberland, we have performed from the Scottish Borders as far south as Huddersfield.
There are four in the band : Robert Furniss (melodeon), James Furniss (bass) and Bill Wooldridge (fiddle/mandolin/tenor banjo/border pipes) forming the nucleus with either Joe Horne or Jack Ruddick on drums, and usually Judith Furniss as caller.
While we have covered the usual diet of gigs - ceilidhs, weddings, birthday and retirement parties, Burns Nights and village hall bashes - we are reasonably adaptable and willing to travel. We have our own p.a. of course; when James finishes at University he may have time to s
