I enjoyed your web page. I play the banjo ukulele in our banjo band which consists of a drummer, tuba player, and 15 tenor and plectrum banjo players. I have never visited the UK, but I have some distant relatives who live in Eastleigh who are coming to visit in June. Keep the music going. I particularly liked your list of do's and don'ts during a performance.

I play fiddle (old time and more recently Cape Breton) and 5-String Banjo (Old time clawhammer). My recent interest in Cape Breton music and the fact I own several banjos, including a vega tubaphone tenor, and the fact that I just learned that the tuning for Irish Tenor is the same as for the fiddle, has sparked an interest in Irish Banjo.

Surprised to see that you have missed the following from your extensive and really spiffing lists. Music Shops:- Handmade Music, Park Road Whitley Bay. an excellant shop for acoustic musicians excellent at repairing all types of acoustic instruments and fair priced sales of instruments and sheet music. Instrument Makers:- Terry Docherty , of Ashington (mentioned uner your Performers section as partner to Robin Dunn. Makes all main types of fretted instruments and has been known to make a mean fiddle. The quality of his instruments is of the highest order. Just a very presumptious hint, probably teaching you to suck eggs , but done with the best possible intentions, in order to save you a lot oif work why not link your music list to the ABC homepages and then folks can get the dots for themselves

Good grief what a good site! I'll be back... but in the meantime does any body know the words to a song sung years ago by the late Hamish Imlach about a man whose hobby was collecting whisky bottles..his wife made him give it up.. 'He took the cork from the first bottle had a little drink, kissed the bottle tenderly and poured it down the sink..' then what ? Thanks..

Hi Banj! Good sight, even the jokes!!! I'm the manager of a young singer songwriter called Matthew Kaunz who hopefully you will all be hearing a lot of in the future. Bookings so far for 99 include support slots for John Renbourn and Nick Harper, Festivals include Leeds Easter(a newie, I will tell you more later) and Otley again. Keep that finger firmly in the ear. Jill Douglas Are you Mad Ferret?

I was just surfing for some new banjo player jokes to tell my mother and her husband, who both play and have their own bluegrass band. You have an interesting site--I'll be sure to have them check this out the next time they're over for dinner!

Just another old worn out banjo picker who still loves the banjo in all of it's forms! I finally figured out what money is for - to buy banjos!
