The Anglican Parish Church of Chelsfield, Kent, is dedicated to St.Martin-of-Tours. The earliest parts of the current church building were constructed in the 12th century. A tower and chapel were added in the 13th century, a porch in the 15th century and the current clergy vestry in the 19th century. A facilities extension, known as the Brass Crosby Rooms, in the North West Corner of the church was completed in February 2007.

The Church is located on the corner of Court Road (A224) and Church Road. A quarter of a mile to the West of Chelsfield Village and 1 mile to the South East of Chelsfield Railway Station. OS ref. Well Hill Mission Church, built in 1890 as one of the string of Mission Churches for Hop Pickers in the Darenth Valley, is part of the parish of St.Martin's and is located approx. half a mile East of Chelsfield Village. OS ref. TQ496642. Click to see Map.

St.Martin's
are augmenting their ring of 6 bells to 8. For many years the
ringing band at St.Martin's has maintained high standards, they have
trained ringers in our own and other local towers. The addition of 2
extra bells will increase the numbers that can be simultaneously
trained and extend the 'methods' that can be rung from our tower. We
plan to complete the works in early 2009. The cost of this project is
expected to be in the region of £31k.
Your
help is urgently sought to fund this project. Re-establish
your links with the parish by becoming a sponsor. For further

Temporary Disruption, It is regretted that, for Health & Safety reasons, whilst refurbishment works are being undertaken the main church building will be closed Monday - Friday. The church porch will remain open. The church will be open at Weekends. This will continue until mid December 2008. The churchyard and Crosby Rooms will remain in normal use during this period. Scheduled weekday services will be held in the Crosby Rooms. There will also be some temporary access restrictions in areas of the churchyard and drive during this period. We are sorry for the inconveniance this will cause.

On 27 September, at Aldington Kent, Chelsfield tower won the Kent County 6 Bell striking competition for 2008 following wins in 1998, 1999, 2002 & 2005.
