The Anglican Parish Church of Chelsfield, Kent, is dedicated to St.Martin-of-Tours. The earliest parts of the current church building were constructed in the 12th century. A tower and chapel were added in the 13th century, a porch in the 15th century and the current clergy vestry in the 19th century. A facilities extension, known as the Brass Crosby Rooms, in the North West Corner of the church was completed in February 2007.

Well Hill Mission Church, built in 1890 as one of the string of Mission Churches for Hop Pickers in the Darenth Valley, is part of the parish of St.Martin's and is located approx. half a mile East of Chelsfield Village. OS ref. TQ496642. Click to see Map.

family's historic links?
St.Martin's
needs a complete rewire and updating of its internal and external
lighting also a refurbishment of the Chapel. The project has obtained
DAC approval and we plan to complete the works during 2008. The
project is expected to cost in the region of £50k.
St.Martin's
are augmenting their ring of 6 bells to 8. For many years the
ringing band at St.Martin's has maintained high standards, they have
trained ringers in our own and other local towers. The addition of 2
extra bells will increase the numbers that can be simultaneously
trained and extend the 'methods' that can be rung from our tower. We
plan to complete the works in early 2009. The cost of this project s
expected to be in the region of £35k.

help is urgently sought to fund these two projects.
