Mascot Mayhem

Robbie the Bobbie and Cardiff City mascot, Barclay the Bluebird, became entangled in controversy last night as the pair fell to the ground throwing punches at each other.

In what appeared to be a pre-motivated boisterous interaction between the jovial looking policeman and his opposite number, the night ended prematurely for both as they received red cards.

Robbie the Bobbie, who has recently been no stranger to controversy after his "mooning" display during the Bury Stoke City game, was caught by a "Joe Erskin" type punch. Subsequent investigations by club officials totally exonerated the Bury mascot, whilst stewards escorted Barclay the Bluebird out of the ground.

Due to public safety reasons, it was suggested to Robbie the Bobbie that he go for an early night after his prompt actions saved his honour. It was thought that the visiting Cardiff City supporters would be a tad upset at their mascot being sent off, so Robbie left the stadium to get an early cup of cocoa with Mrs Bobbie.

Robbie said this morning: "I was only doing what I love to do and entertain the crowd when suddenly the Bluebird came and punched me, I was so shocked that I nearly dropped my truncheon. I only tried to give him a cuddle and to calm him down. But I slipped and we fell around all over the place. Mrs Bobbie shouted at me when I got home because I got my new suit all dirty"

"I’m a bit upset by all the newspaper men ringing me up all the time so I’m going to go home and have a rest, but I will be back to my normal self for the Northampton Town game on Sunday."
