In the foreground of this picture you can see part of the amphitheatre of Tarragona. This is not a very good picture but it may give you some idea what the amphitheatre is like.
When we visited Tarragona in 1999 we were able to walk about anywhere in the amphitheatre, climb up on the rows of terraces, and go into the middle where there was a church built in about the 12th century which is now in ruins.
In 2002 Michael Fox of www.knowth.com visited the amphitheatre. It was being restored and he could not go inside but he did take some excellent photos. Click here to see them
