The Retiro is a park of 300 acres which was once the grounds of a royal palace. This photo of the boating lake in the Retiro was taken on an Sunday evening in November 1999.

In the park there are also some some cafes, a rose garden, and sometimes there are performers such as musicians and magicians as well as vendors selling a variety of goods.

Parque del Oueste is another of Madrid's attractive parks. In this park stands an Egyptian temple called the Templo de Debod, which was given to Spain by Egypt and originally came from the area flooded by the Aswan dam.
