Prehistoric Monuments
Three types of prehistoric stone monuments, dating from 2000-1000 BC can be seen in Menorca. The names of these monuments are Taulas, Talaiots and Navetas.

Taulas are T-shaped structures made from
two huge stones as shown in the photos. These are about 10 ft (3.5m) high. Then there are circular or square buildings called Talaiots, one can be seen in the background of the photo above. The third type are Navetas which are long stone buildings described as being shaped like upturned boats. These are more precisely shaped than the Talaiots. You often see Taulas and Talaiots together with other structures as seen on the photo at the top. These prehistoric sites and remains of ancient villages can be found in many places on the island.
