Touring

Living in Scotland allows us to head off for long weekends on the bikes up north, whenever the fancy takes us, and the weather allows!

North West Scotland especially has some wonderful biking roads and we've managed to ride the majority of them.

A few years ago, four of us decided to do a tour of the islands and highlands of Scotland. Sadly, although it was in August time, the Scottish weather pulled out all the stops to make it as miserable as possible. However, despite this we had a great time and managed to get as far as the Outer Hebrides, taking in Arran, Islay, Mull and Skye along the way.

(soon though)

We frequently sully the biker image by spending an inordinate amount of time searching out the best tea and scone shops wherever we go!

This can prove rather tiring for the stamina-lacking members of the group...

Naturally, we try to make time (in between exploring tea shops) to visit some of the local tourist attractions, even if they are just a collection of stones standing in the wind and rain.

Since getting the R6, we've only really done weekends away, so I was unsure how comfortable I'd find it for long distances. However, in August, I bit the bullet and decided to ride down to Kemble (near Cirencester) for the Ogri Rally .

I was relieved to find that it was remarkably comfortable, with stops for fuel and a rest every 130 miles being just the ticket. Therefore, hopefully next year will see me touring further afield.
