  November
Mike Love solo albums
Given that the band were under severe pressure to deliver their first album for Caribou, this might seem a strange time for Mike to attempt a solo career, much less record two albums simultaneously, but this is exactly what he did. During November and December at Santa
Barbara Sound he worked with two producers, Paul Fauerso on First Love and Al Perkins on Country Love. Further details of the albums are to be found here.

1
The infamous show where Carl was totally out of it. The following day, at a press
conference he apologised, explaining he had taken medication for a back problem and
had a drink on top of it. Not exactly true: with his marriage disintegrating, Carl had
developed a sizeable drink and heroin habit, and this wasn't the only show where he was
visibly in an altered state. As all the shows on this tour were filmed, it's interesting to
consider that he may have seen this show and decided to clean up his act.
2
A Celebration show with Brian, Carl and Jan & Dean guesting: photos and clippings
of this concert form the sleeve of the 2nd Celebration album.
3
For this TV appearence, Brian 'joined' Celebration.
4
Another Celebration concert - only Mike was present.
5
Rain delays added to the length of this event and caused the show in Charleston WV to be
  cancelled.
6
Either on, or very shortly after this date, a tape was compiled for CBS boss Walter
Yetnikoff to hear what his $8.5 million investment in the band had bought. The songs on
the tape (oddly dated August 28th) were a mixture of Criteria recordings - California
Feeling, Brian's Back & Calendar Girl - and material recorded earlier in LA at Brother
and Western: Baby Blue (the Bambu version), Looking Down The Coast/Monterey &
Santa Ana Winds (original version). Legend has it that Yetnikoff's reaction was to say
"Gentlemen, I think I've just been fucked". Certainly, Bruce Johnston was invited to
produce the sessions very shortly thereafter.
7
A Brian solo session: not for the faint of heart.
8
There's some question as to wether they actually appeared on the show, but they were
  scheduled to.
