Who
We Are
We
are a non-contesting Brass Band based at "The Bell Inn" public house in the picturesque town of
Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire.
We
rehearse every Thursday between 7:15pm and 9:30pm. The session is divided
between student groups and the main performance Band.
The
owner of "The Bell" is Roger Gittens, who has supported us for many years, by providing a home for
our rehearsals and a secure place for storing our ever-growing musical accessories.
We
are an entertainment orientated Band that enjoys performing at many and varied events throughout the year, both near and far, to a wide variety of audiences.
Our
musical programme is mostly made up of contemporary pieces with some
traditional fare mixed in.
We
have a friendly and enthusiastic team who are committed to maintaining a high standard of music-making whilst not forgetting to
have fun !
Our
Musical Director is Penny Jaeger, a highly
regarded professional music teacher, who plays a mean Trombone. Her dedication and sheer enthusiasm has moulded the
Band in to a lively, competent, fun-to-play-in musical family.
There
is a high percentage of young people within the Band and, to encourage the continuation of this, we
provide free tuition to anyone interested in learning to play a brass instrument. Of course the "Not so young" are
very welcome too !!!
The
Band is happy to support local charities and "Good causes" each year, either by deed or donation. We, in turn, are very
grateful for the various local organizations and individuals that support
us in being an integral part of the Cleobury Mortimer community.
