Hamstring injury causing concern for Hennon
Player/Manager Ben Hennon becomes the first major injury concern this season. Hennon who originally picked up the knock in a training incident with Lee Mullett said, "since the challenge in training my the back of my leg had been very sore, however, with rest the pain seem to go away and I was able to play a full 90 minutes against Colchester Utd. It wasn't until the day after that I knew I had a serious problem, I hobbled about for a week before finally deciding to book an appointment with the physio". Hennon worries were increased when ITFC physio Mark Newman confirmed that he had caused a slight tear to his hamstring, which would need 2 - 3 weeks rest - this making him a doubt for the forthcoming match against league leaders Shepway on the 18th of January. However, Hennon has reacted brilliantly to treatment for the injury and is expected to be in light train for Sunday the 11th January. He said "Naturally it's a great relief to be declared fit enough to train again after a couple of weeks out. I doubt I would have managed to stay side-lined for much longer, as I really wanted to get involved at training but wasn't able to". He continue "I have been told to do some light work by myself before Sundays training session and hopefully there wont be a reaction meaning that I'll be able to try and regain my fitness for the Shepway match. |
