The Barbara Speake Theatre School
Established 1945

Barbara Speake opened her first dancing school in St. Dunstan’s Hall on February 10th 1945, when she was only 16 years old. In 1961, June Collins began the Barbara Speake Agency. Following on from the success of the Agency, in 1963, Miss Speake opened the full-time educational school.

Location & Site
The school is located in East Acton Lane, East Acton, West London with good access via the Central Line Underground at East Acton or Silverlink Metro North London Line’s Acton Central Station. The school’s main building is a converted church hall with a large, fully equipped theatre where performances and dance sessions are held, with two smaller dance studios, a drama studio & costume store on the ground and first floor. A computer room with 22 PC’s and a combined Art & Science room are also on the first floor. Eight classrooms are sited to the rear of the school in a new double storey building and two other classrooms are in the main building.
