The Barbara Speake Theatre School & Agency
Established 1961
The Agency becomes a pupil's sole representative while
he or she is at the school. Liason between the Academic
and Artistic staff and the Agency enables assessment
of potential so that individual talents can be encouraged
and utilised.
All pupils will have professional photographs of themselves
taken at several times during the year, which will be
arranged by the Agency. They will also be entered into
The Spotlight, which is a directory that is sent to
all television companies and Casting Directors. Pupils
are required to have medical examinations each term
for the purposes of obtaining a licence to work professionally,
and a doctor is on hand to do this.
Fees for the above are not included in the school fees
and will be invoiced separately by the agency. Currently
they amount to £200 per year and are payable at
the beginning of each summer term.
A 20% commission is charged on all professional work
and all pupils are chaperoned on such work by experienced
professional chaperones.
When a pupil leaves Year 11, he/she has the opportunity
to stay with the Agency or go elsewhere.
