THE DAYS REPOR
TToday our team reached Tintern Abbey 21 miles short of their objective Ross-on-Wye.
After a 30 minute haul out of Cheddar Gorge this morning they experienced all sorts of navigational problems trying to skim the outskirts of Bristol. Their main problem was relying on a 3 inch to the mile cycling map that was not detailed enough for the street work required.
To make matters worse they experienced 2 further punctures and a broken spoke necessitating a visit to a local cycle shop. (Puncture score now:- Bill 3; Phil 2; Chris none!)
5.00 pm found them on the Severn Bridge cycle way realizing they could not possibly reach Ross-on-Wye this evening.
Further time was lost trying to locate a B & B with vacancies. A string of 'sorry but we are full with people stranded because of the fuel crises' did little to cheer the trio.
Eventually success brought them to the delightful village of Tintern Parva and after settling in at their B & B they found a pub called The Moon and Sixpence overlooking the River Wye for the evening meal.

While the day had it's difficulties there was a silver lining at Chew Magna where they called for their morning coffee. The local coffee shop had run out of milk. The owner called at the local shops to no avail but suggested they cal in at the local village hall coffee morning where they were made most welcome.
After hearing about their journey the ladies had a whip round and most generously contributed to the charities collection.
SO FROM THE LADS A BIG THANK YOU TO THE TUESDAY COFFEE LADIES OF CHEW MAGNA.
Their journey has now taken the three 250 miles and hence they are at the 'quarter way' point!
Chris, Bill and Phil are all well and keen to make up the miles lost today.
