Married to Geraldine . 2 daughters, Rachel & Victoria. Took early retirement from BT and have spent the last 2 years doing many of the things I always promised myself I would do, once I had the time. Hobbies: Cycling, Hill-walking, (I expect to be doing a lot of this, pushing the bike through Cornwall and parts of Scotland!). Improving my golf (that's the idea anyway) Interests: Socialising / Dining out with friends Following the fortunes of Everton FC (on the up since Walter Smith became manager). Computers / trawling the Internet. Reading - anything and everything. Travelling / Seeing new places, (hoping to visit my daughter in Australia in the New Year) Mail to bill.barker@btinternet.com |

Chris is from Neston, on the Wirral. He is married to Margaret, and has a 10 year old daughter - Rachel. At 47 he is the youngster of the group but, unlike the others, he has not retired from paid employment and so gets less time to train that they do. Spends most of his time working for BT, but cycles when he can escape. Also enjoys sailing, and walking. Has never done anything like this before, but has completed the C2C route over 2.5 days and the Cheshire Cycleway in two days (several times). He has also written some of the pages on this site. Aged 61. I renewed my interest in cycling when working in Holland (1990 - 1994) and continued with Brentwood CTC while living/working in Essex (1994 - 1996). I have been enjoying my retirement since leaving Shell in April 1996. My longest ride previous to this was cycling the C2C route from Whitehaven to Newcastle with my wife Wendy in 1998 - total distance 140 miles, a wonderful experience. If any of you out there have even half a mind to take up cycling - believe me - thats all you need ! ! ! ? ? ? Mail to Philip.Owens@tesco.net |
