Low
Vision Clinic

There are about 1 million people in the UK who could be registered as “blind” or “partially sighted”, and the number is growing every year with the increase in life expectancy.
Here at Chase Eyecare
increasing attention is being given to the needs of patients with failing
vision due to age related or inherited conditions.
Low Vision
Assessments
A low vision assessment
involves a complete evaluation of an individual’s residual visual function, along
with an extensive investigation of his or her visual requirements. Patients will be advised and trained in the
best use of their residual vision, and dispensed the appropriate aids to
maximize the visual acuity available.
Patients may be referred
to us for assessment by:
q Ophthalmologists
q GP’s
q Optical
Practices
q Social
Services
q Voluntary
Organisations
q Teachers
q Self-referral
These aids commonly
range from simple, non-optical items such as special lamps and reading stands
to complex lens systems, including magnifiers, telescopes and electronic
devices.
If a magnifier is
required, which one is going to be suitable is a key question. It is only
possible to recommend the correct type and the correct power when a complete
and proper investigation has been carried out.
We have an
extensive range of magnifiers and aids available from stock
These
include:
q high
magnification spectacles
§ hand
or stand magnifiers
§ illuminated
magnifiers
§ telescopic
aids
§ special
lighting
§ electronic
aids
