'What has drug taking got to do with me- if people want to take them that's their problem'.
Unfortunately that is a short sighted view. The problem with drug takers is they need money to pay for their habit. Because they are on drugs they cannot usually hold down a job, so they turn to crime, shoplifting, burglary and mugging to pay for their drugs. It is not untypical for drug addicts to need £100 a day to pay for their addiction. All this money comes out of your pocket one way or another; either by direct crime (stealing from you) or increased insurance premiums.
So what can you do? Help get rid of the drug dealers by reporting them to the Police remember you do not have to give your name.
By driving out the drug dealers your area will become safer for you and your family, the cost ot your household insurance will not go through the roof and the price of your house will not drop.
Just think about the drug dealer infested areas you see on TV- do they look like the places you want to live in?
Local Youth at Risk Scheme
A scheme exists that tries to help Youths at Risk, by that they mean at risk of getting involved in drugs, thefts and general lawlessness. The idea behind the scheme is to steer these people in a better direction. Help takes a number of forms, both practical and intellectual; each student is given a mentor who will work with them for as long as required to turn them into more responsible adults. The scheme has been running for a number of years right across the country and in some areas the fall in crime (burglaries, vandalism, violence) have been dramatic.
If you are a youth at risk or know of someone in the 17 to 19 year old age group who would benefit from help, please contact Nathan Roberts on 01268 527482.
