CCW

The firm of CCW has for many years produced O Gauge coach kits, although recent items are all fine-scale. The kit shown above for an LNER Thompson full brake is typical of coarse scale kits produced in the 1950s and 60s, being of wood construction with cast white metal ends.

A key feature of many CCW kits was the use of sides slotted vertically along their length. A clear plastic glazing strip was then simply slid into place, see illustration on the left.

As the side was formed from a single piece of wood the grain between the windows was incorrectly horizontal on a teak coach

(compare with Douglass). Obviously this was of no consequence for a painted coach.
