Douglass Models

The Halifax based firm of Douglass Models was owned by R D W Britain, and operated from the late 1950s until 1969. Their speciality was the use of fibreglass (note the spelling of "Douglass"), principally for the bodies and tenders of locomotives. A wide range was available, from a GNR (Stirling) single to a Derby Diesel and two-car DMU. A small range of coaches was also offered, in particular a number of LNER coaches using real wood. The veneer panels were assembled onto clear plastic sheet, which then formed the windows. The roofs of these coaches were fibreglass mouldings on wooden strip cores.

The catalogue cover shown is from 1961.
