The Wynn Family of North London

Researching our Family

Sandra and Janice Wynn began to research their family when their father Charles died  in February 2000.  They suddenly realised that they would never again hear the old
stories of Wynns, Sheldricks, Embletons and Collins neither could they work out how their many distant relations were actually related to them. This is the result of their search so far.

This website is dedicated to our beloved parents
Charles and Kathleen Wynn
who would be amazed at some of the things we have discovered.

We have traced our Wynn's back to 1799 in London (St Giles Cripplegate). During the 19th century the family moved around the Bloomsbury and St Pancras area. The main occupation of the Wynn men was working with horses. At the beginning of the 20th century the family lived in Keppel Mews, just off of Tottenham Court Road. William Wynn (1840-1922), a horse keeper, was head of the family and his son Charles John lived with him.  His  married daughters also lived in the same area. The family stayed in North London until after the 2nd World War when many of them were rehoused after the bombing. Our branch moved to Edgware in Middlesex, but others went to Leicester, Enfield, Romford and other places we still hope to discover.
