Whitletts V Bellefield Sunday 22nd February 2004 On a very cold February day the league leaders were at home to Bellefield the team that knocked them out of the cup a couple of months ago. This was always going to be a hard game and it proved to be. The game was played in a strong wind and the home team chose to play against the wind first half. There was some fine play from both teams giving the weather but ultimately the visitors moved to the long punt to their fast front men. The home teams defence were however lively to this threat and a hard fought first half finished goalless. The second half kicked off and it was soon obvious that the league leaders wanted victory. They pressed forward at every opportunity and were eventually rewarded when a corner saw the ball played in and fall to Hyslop, who turned on a tanner and fired the ball home high into the net. The next ten minutes saw the home team going for the second, however some poor passing saw them give the ball away to cheaply and were their own worse enemies. The second goal did come with ten minutes to go when a cross ball saw G-Man go for the header only to be fouled with a knock in the back of the head, however the ref let play go on and again Hyslop was there to fire home. The team can and should be able to play better than this. However they did get the vital win in front of a large contingent from Kimarnock Balmoral.
