Whitletts V Dirrans Saturday 6th March 2004
This game kicked off 24 hours early after a agreement with both teams. On a clear morning both teams sized each other up for the first 15 minutes with Whitletts having the better of the game. There were some hard tackles going in with no body shirking. In the 19th minute Dirrans won a corner after their first real foray into the Ayr teams half. With a decent corner swung into the far post the Dirrans player headed home. 0 - 1. This sparked Whitletts into action and the home team pressed for the equaliser. This came after Eddie Graham controlled the ball in the box and fired in a weak shot. The goal keeper made a mistake and the ball trickled into the net. 1 -1 With this goal the home team pressed forward and were awarded again when Stuart Bowman scored. Conor McCann also got on the score sheet and the half ended with Whitletts on top and 3 - 1 up.
The second half was a one sided affair with Whitletts scoring twice with Eddie Graham getting his second and John Thomson scoring a well deserved goal against his home town team. Dirrans did get a second goal but the game finished 5 - 2. This was a hard fought game and there were a few tough tackles. Calum McAuley had a good captains game and did nothing wrong. The man of the match award goes to Dwayne Hyslop for his hard work and tackling in the midfield role.
