Scottish Cycling
If you wish to compete in open
competitions, or if you want personal insurance or legal advice in case you are
involved in an accident whilst cycling then joining British Cycling/Scottish
Cycling is worthwhile and our Club recommends it to all members. See Scottish
Cycling web site, downloads and membership.
20 years old
Ythan Cycle Club started 20 years ago,
with our first club run on the 15th November 1987. Up until then all
cycle clubs in the Aberdeen District were based in
Aberdeen
. The present committee has four members from the original committee, Lorna
Adam, Flora Mason, Graham Ward and Graham Gerrard. We will arrange something
later in the year to celebrate the success of our club. Thanks to all committee
members over the years, not forgetting organisers and our members.
End to end
James Hall an ex member of our club, who
now lives and works in
Germany
is planning to do a Lands End to John ‘o Groats this summer. We wish him
well.

It is a 10 mile time trial starting at the Esslemont Circle Co-op (formerly
Auchterellon Mace) and goes out to ½ mile past the Haddo House entrance and
back to Ellon. A handicap system ensures that everyone is “equal” and there
are points for those that improve from last season and throughout this season.
Members and potential members who have not paid their 2007 fees will only be
allowed to compete in 3 events before they are disqualified.
On the 25th March
Aberdeen
and District are having a time trial followed by snacks and a presentation in
Garlogie Hall for the 2006 trophy winners. Our winners are
Ladies Best All Rounder
