  Message from the President

AGM

Enclosed with the Newsletter is the Notice calling the AGM, also the accounts for 2003, and the Minutes of the AGM last year.  The AGM will be held at upstairs lounge in the Tolbooth Ellon at 7.30pm on the 22nd March 2004 .

Hope to see as many members attending as possible, as there will be a general discussion on the organisation of the club. Have a free drink on arrival and refreshments will be served after the AGM and discussion.

Club Membership

An application form for 2004is attached, and Lorna eagerly awaits your subscription. Again this year we are arranging a joint membership with the Buchan Triathlon Club. YCC members can enjoy the benefits of the triathlon events (Tribuchan club for event entries), and the triathletes can take part in confined events, join the SCU, etc without joining Ythan C.C. Ythan CC receive a 10% discount on accessories and clothing at Ellon Cycles (run by Graham Ward, our own member), Alpine Bikes, Duncan Cycles of 5 Errol St Peterhead, and Changing Gear of Granery Street Huntly on production of your membership card. Changing Gear will also give discounts on triathlete gear, bike frames and parts, and will build your bike free.

Also attached is Scottish Cyclist’s Union application form for 2004. It is obvious that you can save money on race day. £12.00 for a Single day License per Open Event. If you join £11.50 for Bronze Membership for a year, but membership also includes 3rd party insurance and free legal advice for Silver Membership at £32.00.

Ythan CC Ladies Team

Ythan CC ladies have gained 3 places in the Ladies SCU Time Trial Best all Rounder Competition (BAR). Caroline was 10th, Lorna and Ellen a few places behind. The only other club to have three ladies placed was the large Edinburgh Road Club. Well done girls, we will present you with your certificates at the AGM.

Thanks Bob

Ian Jones did a great job, setting up the site and maintaining it, but Bob Hill took over last year and despite many teething problems has got it up and running. Please help Bob with any information or photos.

Membership

We would welcome new members, especially juniors and juveniles. Spread the word.

 Club Clothing

You will need the club clothing to enter open events, unless you wear a white top. If anyone needs new or replacement tops, shorts, etc contact Graham on 01358 721599, and once he has enough items to get the discount he will place another order.

Keeping Informed

Charlie Allan (01651 806218) is the newsletter editor. Bob Hill (01358 722449 or email rjhill@marathonoil.com) is the editor of our web site www.ythancc.org.uk.

We need help from the members with articles, photos etc for our great web site.

Cycling Magazines. Cycling Weekly has up to date general information, Cycle Sport is a monthly production that focuses on the “ professional” scene. There are always quite a lot of mountain bike mags in the newsagents. One advantage of getting the cycling magazines is that you can order parts and accessories from mail order companies, but you need to be mechanically minded to fit them.
