First Event of 2006

10 Mile Time Trial at Garlogie on 18 March 2005,  Deeside Thistle

Five Ythan CC riders entered the first Open 10 of the 2006 Season and performed well in difficult conditions. After some early confusion with some riders attending at the traditional race HQ and emerging with quotations for tarring their driveways instead of race numbers, the riders set off into a deceptively stiff breeze.

Russ (the gazelle) Craig was the first Ythan man away and produced a good solid performance posting a 25.35. Bill Dallas was next to show, catching his minute man ('with ease' - he said after the race) to record a respectable 25.17.

Carol Middleton was the only female Ythan representative and recorded a 31.25 which she will surely improve upon as the season progresses. Carol prefers the warmer conditions (it's difficult to justify the sunglasses and tan on a cold day in March!).

Andy Duncan and Steve Argo were next up. Andy's race was cut short because of his awesome upper body strength or perhaps his corpulence (look it up if you have to) as he pulled his tri-bars out of the clamp after a mile. (he later discovered a puncture to his front tyre and misaligned rear wheel - 3 excuses for the price of 1!)

Steve Argo tried a new pre-race relaxation technique where he had a short lie-down at the start line, still attached to his bike - not sure if it will catch on. It did the trick, however as he stormed to a 25.10.
