When did you start cycling and what was
your first club ?
Three years ago and joined the Ythan club
What was your first race ?
Would have been the Ythan 10 mile time trial
What was your first win ?
I seem to remember I was quite
useful in the egg and spoon race. P7 Portsoy primary 19 something or other!!
What was your last win ?
as above
What is your favourite food ?
Curry, nothing else comes close
What is your favourite drink ?
I do like a whisky , partial to a drop of wine and of course the odd pint of the
black stuff
What was the first record you ever
bought ?
It was a long time ago can’t really remember but I think it was Peter’s and
lee “welcome home” not for
myself, a present for my mum
And your favourite song ?
Tough one this, so many to choose from, I like most music however if I had to
select one it could be “we will rock you by Queen.”
What were you like at school ?
Quiet and studious (really)
What kind of books do you read ?
The last book I read was a Lance Armstrong one every second counts, other than
that its mainly work related , bit boring but that’s how it is.
Do you have a favourite TV programme ?
Euro sport – love the moto gp
And your favourite film ?
Don’t really have a favourite film, the first one to come in to my head was
Rocky, so I’ll go with that.
Which newspaper do you read ?
P&J Ft on Saturday, Sunday Times on funnily enough Sunday
What’s your ideal holiday destination
?
Any skiing destination will do me fine
How do you relax ?
I find cycling very relaxing
What is your greatest fear ?
Getting beat by Colin Allanach
How would you describe yourself in a
lonely hearts ad ?
Lonely I guess
What is your favourite training ride ?
I do like the Cairn O mount
What is your best personal achievement
?
Setting up my own business, starting from nothing but a phone and a laptop.
What is the highlight of your life to
date ?
Has to be my family, my wife and two daughters.
Do you have time for hobbies ?
Not much time, if you don’t include cycling.
Who would you like to play you in the
film of your life ?
Interesting one
What is your most unpleasant
characteristic ?
I do tend to insist on holding the TV / SKY controls, changing channel just to
annoy the family. Come to think about it that is quite annoying
Who would you most like to meet ?
Bill Clinton
What was your most embarrassing moment
?
There have been a few of these over the years, mostly involve drink and what I
thought was a smart comment. Buy me a drink sometime, you’ll see what I mean
If you weren’t an IFA what would you
like to be ? Retired
Who is your hero ?
No one person springs to mind. I do admire people who achieve great things, who
show the determination and courage of their own convictions to see things
through. I admire people who selflessly run clubs, devoting a large amount of
time for the benefit of others, often without a word of thanks.

Happy, enthusiastic, sarcastic, determined .
