These tidy little locomotives were mainly used for shunting and station pilot duties. They were used in private factory sidings, collieries, power stations as well as all over London for inter-station transfers of carriage stock.
This particular example was built by The Vulcan Foundry at Newton-le-Willows in Lancashire and delivered to the LMS in October 1926. Its working life with British Rail lasted until 1967 when it retired to the SVR as part of a group purchase.
This class is one of my two favorite locomotives of all time. Why this you may ask, well its an overgrown Hornby Dublo Train Set engine, you know the one in the cheapest set they did , the goods engine set. British Railways 0-6-0T 69567 was the actual Loco modelled by Hornby.
