BOLDON CA MODEL AIRCRAFT CLUB
-- CLUB FACILITIES --
Boldon Community Association Model Aircraft Club was formed in 1975 to cater for the interests of those members whose particular sport was flying model aircraft.
The club is affiliated to the BMFA and the standard insurance requirements of the members is arranged by the club through this organisation.
Flying is carried out on the field owned by the Community Association (see the map of the field in the Club Information section). This field is shared with other sporting groups and the Model Aircraft Club is allocated times for flying (this is sometimes determined by whether the models are "noisy" or "silent" flight). These times, together with other restrictions are detailed in the Rules/Flying area section.
All types of model are flown by the club members, including RC power, RC electric, gliders and helicopters. Gas turbine models cannot be flown on the Community Association field but facilities are available at the nearby Albemarle Barracks on specified occasions. Indoor model fliers have facilities at Willington School once monthly (see the Events section. A Carrier Deck is available for control line flying.
Training facilities: details unavailable at present. The club has BMFA examiners who can test pilots and award achievement certificates.
Community Association membership is obligatory and all of the available sporting and social facilities of the CA are available to members of the Model Aircraft Club.
