Update -26th. May 2008 , two winners in the Limbo competition.
A "Limbo" competition was held on the Chuter Ede field on Sunday 18th.May. Unfortunately I was unable to attend what must have been an exciting event! Two winners, Steve Beadall, flying one of those tiny delta wing electric models and Stephen Lough flying a biplane, managed to get under a tape set at 2' 9" well done lads. Stephen Lough, I believe, claims the title due to the greater overall height of his biplane. Should we call on the services of an impartial referee? Probably not!!
If anyone has any pictures of this event I would be pleased hear from you or send them via e-mail at boldon.modelaircraft@btinternet.com .
A football competition event will prevent model flying on the Boldon field for the weekend of 12/13th. July 2008. This will not affect flying at Chuter Ede.
The picture pages on the club website have always been the most popular. Owing to the restrictions imposed by the Internet Service provider it has not been possible to include more than a handful of pictures on the current pages. Recently the ISP introduced a service called Flickr which enables me to upload unlimited numbers of pictures so I have been able to show these on Flickr . You can see them by clicking here.
Alternatively there is also a link on the LINKS page.
If you use this link would you kindly insert any comments in the space provided by Flickr as this would be most useful in choosing suitable content in the future.
It was decided at the 2007 AGM that the Bodon flying field would be opened on 1st.January 2008. As both fields would be in use at the same times the following frequency split would be used to prevent interference between the two:
Boldon: Up to and including Channel 70.
Chuter Ede: Channel 72 and above.
New flight boxes will be held at Boldon CA to provide the "peg on" facility. Use of the 2.4GHz frequencies was discussed and the committee will decide if users will be required to show a peg .
New flying area rules have been added to the FLYING AREA section.
The annual spot landing competition was held today (1/4/07) on the Chuter Ede field. Five members took part in a stiff northerly breeze. The results were as follows:
| Position: | Competitor: | Distance from the spot: |
| 1st. | Steve Lough | 9' 0" |
| 2nd. | Ray Campbell | 9'7" |
| 3rd. | Charley Nixon | 10'3" |
| 4th. | Harry Otun | 20' |
| 5th. | Jimmy Taylor | 30' |
Here are some photographs of the event:
Charley Nixon approaching the spot.
Harry Otun, nearly there!
The winning model, Steve Lough's Sig Commander close to the spot.
I think this is Rod Campbell's little electric model (very fast!!).
And a close up of the winning model, Steves Sig Commander. Well flown Steve.
