Boldon Community Association Model Aircraft Club was formed in 1975 to cater for the interests of those
members whose particular sport was flying model aircraft.

The club is affiliated to the BMFA and the standard insurance requirements of the members is arranged by
the club through this organisation.
Flying is carried out on two fields, one owned by the Community Association  and the other by Chuter
Ede Community Association(see the aerial photographs below). The Boldon field field is shared with other
sporting groups and the Model Aircraft Club is allocated times for flying (this is sometimes determined by
whether the models are "noisy" or "silent" flight). These times, together with other restrictions are detailed
below.
All types of model are flown by the club members, including RC power, RC electric, gliders and
helicopters. Gas turbine models cannot be flown on the Community Association field but facilities are
available at the nearby Albemarle Barracks on specified occasions. Indoor model fliers have facilities at
Churchill College once monthly (see the Events section. A Carrier Deck is available for control line flying.
Training facilities:
Details unavailable at present. The club has BMFA examiners who can test pilots and award achievement
certificates.

Community Association membership is obligatory and all of the available sporting and social facilities of
the CA are available to members of the Model Aircraft Club.

APPENDIX 2.
The following procedure is to be implemented with regard to the vehicular access to the Chuter
Ede flying site:-
1 A lock has been purchased to replace the council lock on flying days only.
2 Each member will be issued with a key for this lock. This must be signed for and must be
collected by the individual member.
3 The Club's lock and the council key will be kept in the flight box which will be kept at
reception in the Boldon CA, as it has longer opening hours than Chuter Ede.
4 The first vehicle driver must collect the box from Boldon CA Reception and sign it out. On
arrival at Chuter Ede, the council's lock on the field gate will be replaced with the Club's
lock. The last person to leave the field must replace the Council's lock on the gate and

The box should then be signed back in. In the event that two different people sign it out

Log. The gate must only be unlocked to allow access. At ALL other times it must remain
locked.
5 All drivers who require access to the field must have their own key with them. Vehicles
must not be taken on to the field unless Rule 4 can be fulfilled.
6 Keys are issued to Club members on an individual basis. You will be charged for
replacement keys.
7 Vehicular access to the field without changing the lock is forbidden e.g. by use of the
Council key only. This will necessitate the flight box being removed from Boldon CA for
those times when the centre is to be closed e.g. bank holidays, Christmas and New Year
holidays etc.
8 Disregard of ANY of the above rules will result in an automatic suspension of flying rights. The
suspended member will be required to attend a Committee meeting in order to explain their
actions.
