Cottages

There are two apartments and six cottages available for let throughout the year at Bonawe House. The two elegant apartments are part of the main house. The six cottages are set around a sunny courtyard to the rear of the main house. They are furnished mainly in pine with original Scottish paintings and have direct access to the gardens.

Rose		2 people + cot, 1 twin bedroom. A bright detached ground floor cottage, without steps inside. Rose has an open plan kitchen and living room with large picture windows. Living flame fire. Rose is being upgraded to 4 star accommodation in 2004 and now includes a small dishwasher.
Clematis		2 people + cot, 1 twin bedroom (or can be made as 1 kingsize by request). A cosy ground floor cottage with bags of character. Clematis has an open plan kitchen and living room, with views through the trees over the loch. Living flame fire.
Holly		4 people + cot, 1 double bedroom, 1 full size bunk bedroom. Holly has an airy open plan kitchen and living room on the ground floor, the bedrooms are upstairs.
Garden		4 people , 2 twin bedrooms. A cosy ground floor cottage with a separate kitchen and living room. The three foot thick walls give extra character. Garden has a new living flame fire, making the living room exceptionally cosy.
Honeysuckle		4 people + cot, 2 twin bedrooms. A particularly spacious first floor cottage with separate entrance overlooking the formal gardens. Honeysuckle has a large farmhouse kitchen/ dining area and a separate living room. with new living flame fire.
Hydrangea		5 people + cot, 1 twin bedroom, 1 full size bunk bedroom, 1 single bedroom. A cheerful detached ground floor cottage. The kitchen and spacious living room are open plan. No steps inside.
Etive View	Top 5 windows on the left	6 people + cot, 3 twin bedrooms. Situated on the second floor of main house. The kitchen and living room are separate. Very spacious with stunning views across Loch Etive. The kitchen also has a dishwasher.
The Edwardian Wing	All the right hand section	4 people + cot, 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, ground/first floor. Downstairs it has a magnificent large oak panelled drawing room with piano, kitchen/dining room and a separate toilet. The upstairs has two bedrooms with stunning views across the Loch. The master bedroom is exceptionally grand and gracious. The bathroom has a traditional bath with hand shower and a 'loo with a view'. Furnished throughout with period furniture and decor appropriate to a property of this splendour. The additional facilities include a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, CD player and video.

All cottages have:

Living room: Large colour TV (usually we have 4 channels), most have teletext access, DVD player that can play most music CDs. Our 'totally biased' recommendations of places to eat, what to see, walks, cycle rides and car tours (copies of what's on the website) and a map of walks around our house.

Kitchen: Fridge with freezer compartment, electric cooker, extractor, oven with grill, toaster, kettle, microwave. Crockery and cutlery for the number of people in each cottage. Pans and other cooking utensils. Teapot and caffetiere. Iron and ironing board. Drying rack (airer), vacuum cleaner and sweeping brush.

Bathrooms: Bath with shower in the bath (except Edwardian which has a hand shower only). The Etive shower is an electric shower, all other showers are gravity fed from the hot tank. The Rose shower is a power shower. Toilet, sink with light and shaver socket. Most bathrooms have an electric towel heater. The Edwardian bathroom has carpet, all other bathrooms have a linoleum floor.

Bedrooms: Nearly all cottages have single beds, but beds can be pushed together to make a double. Most are pine beds, some are divans. All beds have an electric blanket, except for the bunk beds. All beds have a 13 tog duvet.

All cottages have one storage heater and an instant convector heater for each room.

We provide the following 'consumables': Washing up liquid, washing up brush, dishcloths. Liquid soaps by washbasins. One toilet roll and bin bag. We will leave behind in cottages any oil, pepper and salt that have been left by previous guests.

Communal access to: DVD library, Resource books and walks with some local maps (not OS maps). Coin phone. We will do any washing for £3. Upright and pull along Dyson vacuum cleaners. Converter socket for European guests. Hairdryer.
