All establishments offer a choice of vegetarian meals. Oban has an international range of eating places.

Nearest to us is the Polfearn hotel which serves excellent bar food. Particularly good are the mussels which are brought from Loch Etive daily by the mussel farmer who lives next door to the hotel.

10 minute walk. Go out of our front gate. Turn right after 50 yards through the gate down the track alongside the furnace. When you meet the tarmac road turn right, and after 100 yards you can see the hotel on your right across a field. Either walk across the field or follow the road round.

Serves bar food with a nice atmosphere. Particularly relaxing is the lounge bar with leather armchairs by the fire. Thursday night is often quiz night.  The Taynuilt inn changed hands early in 2001, and has had some major investment and has a very good chef.

25 minute walk. On the A85 at the turn off into Taynuilt village.

Serves very good bar food in a lovely atmosphere. Food only served during the spring/summer season. 

20 minutes by car. From Taynuilt turn left onto the A85. After 500 yards turn right signed to Kilchrenan. The inn is at the junction for the Ardanasaig turnoff.

Expensive dining with superb food. £38 for a set course without wine. For that special evening ask to have a table with view over the loch (you may be better off booking this in advance)

30 minutes by car. From Taynuilt turn left onto the A85. After 500 yards turn right signed to Kilchrenan and Ardanasaig. Turn left at the Kilchrenan for Ardanasaig, and the hotel is at the end of the road.

Not as expensive as the Ardanasaig, (£28 per person), but very good nouveau cuisine. All tables have a view over Loch Awe.  They do not welcome children.

30 minutes by car. From Taynuilt turn left onto the A85. After 500 yards turn right signed to Kilchrenan and Taychreggan. Keep going right past the Kilchrenan inn, and you come to the Taychreggan.

Overlooking the marina with a sailing atmosphere.  The terrace is enclosed by a wall, so small children are safe.  Very Mediteranean feel on a summer's day.

15 minutes by car. From Taynuilt turn right onto the A85 to Oban. Through Connel approximately a mile further on your right.  Especially good with children.

Under new management, they have been doing extensive renovation works. They have started serving bar meals for lunch time and dinners up to 20.30.

5 minutes by car. From Taynuilt turn left onto the A85 towards Crianlarich, through Bridge of Awe and it is signed to your right past the petrol station and caravan site.
