My Old (now retired) Critical Mass Ships.
I no longer fly these, but they might still be of use to you.

Early in my Critical Mass flying career I hadn't a clue and produced some ships such as the Fang. This was a pretty bad ship and I died a lot. However I learnt that I was bad at working out where missiles would go and that I needed to focus on the Drachan (white) and Yatari (Cyan) missiles. Thus ships like the Talon were born (I also learnt that stealth helps). Later, as I got better at predicting where missiles would end up (both mine and my opponents) and with three front scanners I got better at avoiding missiles. I discovered could afford to have few or no shields (for the early missions) provided I had plenty of command centres and repairs. I traded the Drachan (white) for Daycorn (Yellow) and I began to fly the Frog series.
So just because I have retired these ships does not mean they are not of use. I've outgrown them but I suspect they are still useful to the beginner/intermediate pilot.
My Very Early Ships, some of which suck to fly, look at them but don't download them!

| General attack Craft [I never fly this anymore, preferring the Talon but occasionally still use it as a wingman]. Weaknesses too many to mention! | Version of Fang, sacrificing variety of missile (and repair) in favour of stealth. Weakness no repair and too few Command Centres. | General attack craft with four rear engines can get you out of trouble fast when necessary. Weakness: stealth and heavy hitting power. | Frustrated by the 'Dreads' tunnel vision and two launchers I made a super turning ship. Weakness no heavy damage missiles or stealth or repair or enough Command centres, it's far too specialised! |
My 'Frog' series of heavy fighter bombers,
I still occasionally fly these when I'm offered nothing else but generally prefer other ships.

| Stealthy fighter bomber (named in tribute to the Zero88 Fat Frog lighting desk). | Midrange version of the Frog series. | High end of the fighter bomber Frog range of ships. | Deluxe version of the Frog range of ships. |
The last of my 'Frog' series and some heavily cloaked ships.

| Top of the range of the Frog fighter bomber ships. Trades one of the repairs for more turning (the shields are so good the repairs are rarely used anyway). | For those 'destroy the ...' missions, 7 scanners to see it from far away, then hit it with the long range Orik missiles while never being spotted yourself, however if someone gets behind you it can all be over. | So heavily cloaked it reduces a 6 radar ship to the same range as a 0 radar (against a non-cloaked)! Lacks any repair bots. | More heavily shielded version of the suspicion. Now even if you get caught you will survive a few direct hits. Its weakness is a lack of repair bots. |
Pure Bombers

|
| A (rather ugly) bomber for the very early missions. | Ideal for slipping past a defence fleet to hit static targets. (Poor in dogfights). | Enhanced version of the Stealth Bomber, more shields and slightly better in a dogfight. |
Some general ships; low to mid cost

| Lynyl | Heavy Hunter | ||
| I wanted to stick eight radar on the front of a ship just for the experience. Fed up not being able to find the target? This one's for you. That said I found it died too easily (but I'll still fly it as a wingman occasionally).. | A strong dog-fighter however the Lynyl lacks the missiles to take out a large number of static targets. [Hence its semi-retirned status] | A heavy fighter, lethal against static bases but
struggling in dogfights.
[By a cost of 147 all slots should be filled, this has 3 empty!] |

| A stating out ship, lacking in shields but with those all
important three front scanners and 5 command centres.
[This early I'd rather trade the rear shield for 5 more missiles and a repair.] |
A bomber for the early missions very similar to the Yarel.
Low on Shields but high on missiles.
|
Deluxe stealth Fighter/Bomber Ship. Too much stealth and not enough repair, if someone does pound through a side of shields you have to hyperspace out. |
