London, Midland and Scottish Railway
The London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) was formed in the "groupings" of 1923 from the London and North Western Railway, the Midland Railway, the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, the North Staffordshire Railway, the Furness Railway, the Caledonian Railway, the Highland Railway, the Glasgow and South Western Railway, the Stratford-Upon-Avon & Midland Junction Railway and about 30 other minor railways.
The LMS ceased to exist in 1947 when it was amalgamated with the Great Western Railway,
the London and North Eastern Railway and the Southern Railway the form British Railways.
