Youth Exchange (Student information)
The first step is to contact Paul to enquire if an Exchange is possible to the country of your choice. Once the preliminaries are discussed then an application form can be submitted via the Rotary District Youth Exchange Officer to our partner District in the country of preference.
These exchanges do not normally require any hosting by, or cost to, a Rotary Club and can vary from several days to several weeks. They do not normally include an academic programme and usually takes place in school holidays. Exchanges with northern hemisphere countries are quite often back to back and those with southern hemisphere are timed to coincide with the long summer school holiday around Christmas.
The Short Term programme can be as flexible as a Rotary Club wishes it to be and exchanges can be:
Rotary Clubs having interviewed and ascertained the suitability of the student and his or her family to take part in the programme provide support and guidance during the exchange. Students are responsible for the costs of travel and for insurance
Youth Exchanges will be subject to the new guidelines issued by RIBI on the protection of young people issued April 2007. A copy of which may be obtained from the RIBI offices at Alcester or consult your Rotary Club Protection Officer
A study year abroad for students between the ages of 15 and 19.
The student lives with two or more Rotarian or Rotary approved families and attends school in the host country. The student is responsible for the cost of travel to and from the host country, insurance, clothing and incidental expenses. The host Rotary Club provides a modest monthly allowance and will also pay any tuition fees for academic programmes.
