'My Big Sister' by Jessica

From Chapter 3 - Friends and Family

'My Big Sister'
by Jessica

They say my sister has an eating disorder,
‘Cos she seems so thin,
And looks so sad, and lonely:
Her smile is so dim.
Yesterday I tried to hug her,
But was pushed away.
Last time I hugged her, I could feel her ribs,
She seems so fragile, like she could shatter if
I held her too strong.
Today I said I loved her,
And her face just turned away from me.

My sister borrows my clothes, ‘Cos hers
Don’t fit her like they should.
At night I hear her tiptoe to the fridge,
Open the door and close it,
Several times a night.

Mum and Dad argue a lot now,
‘Cos they don’t know what to do,
Mum cries when she doesn’t come to dinner,
I wish I could help her too.
