'The Girl Across the Room' by Jasmine

From Chapter 3 - Friends and Family

'The Girl Across the Room' by Jasmine

You walk into the room,
I can see from a mile off
That your hips poking out
Are more than just bones showing through,
But distress and unhappiness.

How I wish I could,
Transplant all that is in my head,
All that I learned and went through,
To make you better, to say
It doesn’t have to be like this,
To save you the pain.

You say you’re fine,
I know the truth.

My life has been the happiest ever
Since I recovered:
That is what I would say,
If I could,

If you were able to listen,
If you were ready to hear.
That life without the illness is better than
Life before it all began.

I’m waiting, when you are ready.
